A Serious Problem

There’s a problem in the church. Everyone can see it. If there weren’t this problem, organizations such as Promise Keepers wouldn’t be able to consistently pack stadiums with thousands. But what is the problem? And does Promise Keepers offer a real answer? Is it Biblical?

Men are overwhelmed by the calling to perform as husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, employees and employers in a world racked by divorce, abuse, and rebellion. The church ought to be where one goes to seek the answers but the Christian church today fails to provide what men need. You can search the internet and see the news. It is bleak.

Men don’t go to church. Therefore, they no longer are able to walk as Christians in the home or at work. As a consequence, their sons and daughters will grow up and not go to church. Their families and their marriages are crumbling.

Promise Keepers claims to have the answer. They do not, for they teach man, the promise keeper, and not God, the faithful covenant God, Whose promises stand sure in Christ.

What then does a Christian man need?

You need to know the True Sovereign God.

This God is not preached.

  • If the gospel you’re used to hearing teaches a God that does not know His people until they choose Him, ...

  • If the gospel you’re used to hearing teaches a savior that is impotent to save unless you invite him into your life,...

  • If the gospel you’re used to hearing teaches a covenant that ends with your work of believing,...

  • If the gospel you’re used to hearing lays upon you, a broken sinner, the burden of "unleashing" some inner power to preserve your marriage and family,..

...Then this is not the Sovereign God of Scripture.

The Sovereign God is a faithful father

  • The God of Scripture is a Father that knows your weakness, (Psalm 103).

  • The God of Scripture is a Father that has our name forever engraved upon the palms of His hands. (Isaiah 49:14-16).

  • The God of Scripture is a loving Father who will never allow you to be snatched out of His hand (John 10:28,29) or will allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear (I Corinthians 10:13).

The Husband of the bride is an exalted Savior, in Whom are the promises of God

  • The Savior of the Bible is Jesus Christ - "Jehovah Salvation", Who has all power of heaven given to Him, (Matthew 28:18).

  • A Savior Who died and saved all for whom He died, (John 10:15, 27-29).

  • The Savior of the Bible is the Husband of the church whom He presents as a spotless, beautiful bride in the day of glory, (Ephesians 5:25-27).

These are spiritual issues of God's promise

  • If you don’t know the Father in the Bible, how can you be a father?

  • If you don’t know the Husband of the bride, (Christ and the church), how can you be a husband to your wife?

  • If God loses His children, purchased by the blood of His Son, how will you keep from losing yours?

Come worship with us as families and hear of the promise God keeps
which is:

"unto you and to your children
....as many as the Lord our God shall call." Acts 2:39
